Spooky Halloween Nail Tutorial!
1. Blood Spattered
Easy to pull off and incredibly effective!
You will need:
- White/grey nail polish
Red Varnish
A straw
Masking tape
Preparation:
This a little messy, so make sure you have a piece of newspaper down on the surface first. Using the masking tape, cover the area around your nail so that any stray nail varnish can be easily removed if you prefer you can just use a cotton bud and varnish remover to remove afterwards.
Step 1:
Paint two top coats of your chosen base shade, preferably white so the blood really stands out, allow to dry thoroughly.
Step 2:
Pour a small amount of the red varnish on to a flat surface or newspaper. Your varnish needs to be fairly runny – if yours isn’t pour one or two drops of acetone/nail varnish remover into the bottle and shake first.
Step 3:
Take the straw, cut in half and coat the entire end of the straw in red varnish. You need to make sure the opening has a film of varnish over it as this is what you will be blowing onto your nails.
Step 4:
Blow!, the amount of varnish expelled will vary, but have fun and be random, its meant to look natural after all! Allow to thoroughly dry as some of the varnish may be quite thick.
Step 5:
Finish with a clear top coat, remove the tape or excess varnish and scare away!!!!
2. Spooky Eyes
The second design is a little more chic, especially if you aren’t dressing up this year, its a great way to stay a little spooky. This is far easier than it looks so give it a try!
Preparation:
Buff and file your nails.
Step 1:
Paint two coats of a black glossy or black matte base, allow to fully dry.
Step 2:
You can use a white nail pen or if you have a steady hand a white varnish, apply a circular shape with the white varnish, two circles if you have small nails and three if you have longer nails. alternate these along the nail.
Step 3:
Using the varnish brush create an eye shape by extending the circles into a point on either side. Allow the white to dry completely.
Step 4:
Take a nail art pen in black and paint squares onto the bottom of the white eyes, keep this shape quite sharp.
Step 5:
Once the design is dry, paint a clear top coat or even glitter. All eyes on you!!
